Duncans_son_max

Look up cute in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Duncan's son, Max. A wandering soul by nature, he can make up the steepest slope (albeit slowly), but then will back down the other side rather than lean back...at then he's out of sight and we're looking all over for him. Never went too far, but might like to put a GPS on him just for tracking purposes till he gets a bit past 3 years old! I can still hear Duncan imitating his voice in the morning at 5:30 am when he comes in Dad's room and Duncan tells him to go back to bed, "But Dad, I'm not sleepy. It's not dark outside!"

Elizabeth_and_me

Elizabeth_and_me

For some reason she took a shine to me, grabbing my hand as we walked, and showing me how to crab up a slippery dune. What a doll!

Gary_evans_great_kids

Gary_evans_great_kids

James, Mary Claire, and Elizabeth. Now guess what nationality they are? What, no clue? But what great kids. This must be just the life for kids...

Garys_stables

Garys_stables

The Evan's arabian stables...

James_at_the_wheel

James_at_the_wheel

Straining to look over the streering wheel, his dad (Gary) shouting instructions and warnings from the back seat, James was spot on, engaging the clutch, gas, steering, low gear shifter, all with the poise of a master camel racer...(I hope that's a good thing. Never actually met a master camel racer...)

New_friends_at_camp

New_friends_at_camp

Hope this lightens up on your monitor. It looked good as an original... you should see a very relaxed tribe sitting under the night sky...

Our_camp

Our_camp

Our modern day camels sit quietly near our BBQ spot...

Preparing_the_fire

Preparing_the_fire

The tribe sets up camp for the night, spreading out like an organized ant colony, each with a specific essential task--fire, food, hydration...

Sueys_camel

Sueys_camel

Ok Suey, what do you think? Are you ready for the responsibility? I can even have him shipped to Singapore if you'd like??

Supermarket_al_ain_1

Supermarket_al_ain_1

Quite nice, with good selections...

The_greeters

The_greeters

Meet and greet time at the camel camp...loved these guys--quite beautiful animals perfectly suited to the harshest conditions imaginable...

Typical_compound

Typical_compound

the typical compound (villa) here has tall (7-10 ft) solid concrete or block fences, often with very ornate design work...

With_the_wee_ones

With_the_wee_ones

Kept feeling the hot breath of a camel on my neck, but I'll do anything to get a good picture for the blog...the kids aren't afraid one bit of camels--but they know not to grab at them (as they told me they WILL bite if you do)...
